Practices

James is an experienced insurance coverage and monitoring attorney with a national reputation. He has extensive experience in litigation and resolution of coverage, subrogation, banking, commercial and personal disputes. He has numerous reported trial and appellate court opinions.

James has an active specialty lines practice in addition to his general liability practice. He is the former chair of Defense Research Institute's Fidelity and Surety Committee and was the editor-in-chief for many years of the American Bar Association's Fidelity & Surety Digest. At a recent ABA meeting in Boston, he was a featured panel speaker on computer fraud coverage.

James has published some fifty articles including a chapter on limitation of liability in the New Appleman's on Insurance Law, a chapter in the Financial Institution Bond Annotated (ABA 2d Ed. 2013), and numerous articles in the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Law Journal.

James is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell and was selected for inclusion in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Illinois Super Lawyers®. He is fluent in Spanish.
